VFX Sup – Graham Olsen

After a couple of pick up shots on Mad Max Furiosa, Avatar Factory had renowned VFX Supervisor, Graham Olsen, return for a rather top secret mission requirement. It is so nice to have a client return.

Family Credit

Well, we finally received a family credit!Thenks to Geneveive Camilleri for looking after us. It may well be the first family credit for Cyberscanniing and LIdar Scanning – anywhere! Together is a very good film – a must see:)

Docklands TVC

Great to be at Docklands Studios Melbourne again.This time at Studio 3 with Nant’s Virtual Studio for a TVC.Another fresh and wet day in Melbourne. For this assignment, we were responsible for clean up and more.

Original is Better

Yes, we decided to try the more conventional setup of hard lights.Not great.I can’t see why people use this setup.Our ceiling-to-floor, wall-to-wall lighting has fewer shadows and less flare. Setup with hard shadows and flare: Original set up with soft shadows and less flare:

MG Modelling

Mike Annear from Scan2Model helped out with this rather complex model of a car.Around 40 hours of work with fantastic results: This is a heavy version, 150Mb and might not load on a mobile.

Through The Eyes Of Our Ancestors Mod was engaged by the Australian Film, Television and Radio School (AFTRS) under a Netflix-funded Indigenous Scholarship Fund to collaborate with First Nations Traditional Owner, Nicholas Thompson-Wymarra from Gudang Yadhaykenu country on the Cape York Peninsula, the northernmost tip of Australia, to produce a “3D Elders” holographic story pilot. …

A Medical Company

It’s been a busy month for Avatar Factory, we’ve driven a whopping4,000km in our cyber scanning truck to be a part of some very excitingnew projects including a medical company where we completed 172 scans! Three days of shooting and 7 days in post processing models.Client very happy with results and of course on time …

Brisbane Studios

In conjunction with Alt and Steelbridge, we were a part of their ‘show and tell’ day.Around 200 attendees were there and was nice to show off our new system – parallel, cross-polarisation, and OLAT reference lighting as well as our new Track Scanner for props.
