Track Scanner Addition for Props

Our first ‘work in progress’ using our new Track Scanner.
A hand-held laser scanner to capture props from the size with extended volume from a coin to a car to an aircraft and miniature sets.

A particularly difficult subject with lots of tight spaces, nooks, and crannies.
Scanned @ 1mm resolution. The result is a 40M point cloud – low res for this scanner.
No tracking markers on the vehicle. Wheels scanned separately.
Scanning under the car was limited to a stand height of 400MM.
Amy helped out greatly on this and represents a 2 x person’s job.

Check out a Substance Painter wip here.

Texture photography can be done, but due to the nature of vehicles being highly reflective, an egg studio is preferred.

We have also performed a more conventional car scan of a Mercedes with the laser scanner with 300+ images for texture using photogrammetry.
